What are the psychological issues that can cause a man to be impotent?
There a huge number of different psychological factors that can cause a man to become impotent... these can include:
- Anxiety – A man can become impotent at any time of his life, depending on external stresses and strains
- Stress – Again, stress can cause a man to become impotent at almost any time
- Boredom – Men can become impotent if their sexual partner is no longer attractive to them
- Performance Anxiety – A man may become impotent if he is worried about what his partner is going to think of him
- Unresolved Psychological Conflict – A person can become impotent because of previous experiences that the man hasn’t fully resolved (incidentally, ‘Pure’ Hypnoanalysis is an excellent treatment if this is causing the man to be impotent)
- The Fear of Being Judged – Men who fear being judged by their sexual partner can often become impotent simply due to the anticipatory anxiety of a sexual encounter
- Anticipation of Becomming Impotent – Sometimes, the man will be impotent because of the worry abouyt being able to maintain an erection long enough for sex to occur
- Worrying About Pregnancy – Particularly in young men, the worry of the girl becomming pregnant can be enough to cause him to be impotent
- Remembering a Previous Time Where He Was Impotent – If a man gets himself into a cycle of worrying about being impotent, the worry alone can cause him to be impotent
- Worry About Using a Condom – Again, often in young men, the worry of using a condom properly (or the thought of using a condom at all) can bring cause him to become impotent
- Guilt – A man can become impotent if he feels guilty about the sexual relationship (for example, when cheating on their wife, or starting a new sexual relationship after another has ended)
- Upbringing - Having grown up, for example, in an environment where sex was seen as ‘dirty’, or where sexuality was often suppressed or used to induce guilt
- Depression – Someone suffering from depression can become impotent when they are feeling depressed
- Relationship Problems – A man who is attempting to maintain a sex life with a partner which whom there are problems in the relationship as a whole can find that he can become impotent
- Lack of Self Confidence – If a man isn’t confident in his sexual performance, he may worry about how it is going to be, and this can cause him to become impotent
- Low Self-Worth – A man may become impotent if he has a low self worth, and feels he isn’t worthy of being in a sexual relationship with his partner
