The term 'hypnotherapy' simply means a 'therapy' which uses 'hypnosis', and is a term that can apply to quite a wide range of therapies.
Suggestion hypnotherapy is a relaxing and gentle approach to hypnotherapy, where the client is helped to feel calm and relaxed during the hypnotherapy session, and where the therapist can use carefully worded 'suggestions', to help the person bring about a positive change. It's often used for treating habits, such as nail biting for example.
Suggestion therapy is best suited for when help is needed to make changes to the person's life, and where there isn't really any underlying stress or anxiety causing the symptom.
If we use weight loss as an example, suggestion therapy can help some people to lose some weight if their weight issues don't have an anxiety based component. This is especially true if there is only a little bit weight to lose, and all they need is a little bit of help with motivation. In this case, weight loss suggestion sessions can be very beneficial.
Our own weight loss suggestion session, "Successful Weight Loss Hypnosis" is available for download.
Continuing with weight loss as an example, suggestion therapy may not be suitable for someone who has a high anxiety or stress element to their weight. Someone in this situation may find that they comfort eat, or eat when they feel stressed or need to relax. In this case, another form of therapy, such as Pure Hypnoanalysis may be more suitable.
Stopping smoking is another popular application of suggestion therapy, and can be very helpful, as long as the person is smoking simply because it's a habit, or because they believe they're addicted to it.
Our stop smoking hypnotherapy session, called "Stop Smoking with Hypnosis, and Know How You Did It!" is available for download.
Again, if there's an anxiety or stress component to the persons smoking (for examply if they smoke a lot of cigarettes per day), then a different approach, such as Pure Hypnoanalysis may be more appropriate.
